Hola!

Club Marival is a very nice, all-inclusive resort. That means just about everything is free: food, drinks (we loved the Tequila Sunrises - cassis instead of grenadine), and most activities. We had a haze for the first few days from the big forest fires in southern Mexico, but that actually helped because it wasn't as hot. Our only complaint was that the room was pretty darn small (but the bathroom was large).

Marival Pools at Sunset

Here are two of the pools at Marival at sunset, facing towards the beach. Yes, Marival is on the beach. I've had people email me to make sure. Apparently, there is a brochure out there somewhere that says it's across the street from the beach.

Marival Beach at Sunset

Ali on the beach at Marival at sunset. This has got to be one of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen. The sand was soft and didn't invade your swimsuit, and the water was warm enough for swimming (remember, we're used to the Northern California Pacific Ocean).

Bruce on the Beach

Bruce finally gets some sun.

Answers to your other questions. If it's not here, I don't know. Please don't ask. I'm not a travel agent.

The food was good, but rarely great.
Our room was about 12' x 12' (4m x 4m), plus a large bathroom, I didn't see any of the larger rooms.
Drinks are great if you specify what ingredients you want (BTW, Jose Cuervo is the cheap stuff - try the El Jimador or Herradura).
We were there during "shoulder" season, in May, so it wasn't crowded at all, but I don't know about peak seasons.
Yes, they have towels at the pool.
Didn't get to the disco, so I don't know what it was like.
The entertainment was OK, we didn't hang out for most of it.
I don't remember if they cut off serving drinks at any certain time.
The beach is gorgeous.
They have lots of planned activities like volleyball, pool-games, etc. You have to go to town (20 minutes by cab, there's also a bus) for anything "interesting" to do or see.
The grounds and buildings were immaculate.
We were certified scuba already. The lessons for beginners are free at Marival - the actual excursions and rentals are not. Figure $60-120 per person per dive trip (2-3 dives per trip).
American money works in many places. Otherwise, you can exchange money at the hotel (bad rate) or get money from an ATM downtown. Also, check your credit card terms. If they don't charge a transaction fee (one of the cc companies' newest games on foreign charges), they often give you the best exchange rates.
The hotel desalinates its own water, so all tap water is sage and potable.
